ECO - TOURS



​MANGROVE FOREST BOAT TOUR, BIRD WATCHING, HIKING IN CLOUD FOREST AND VOLCANIC CRATER, NIGHT TOUR OF ACTIVE VOLCANO, SWIMMING IN VOLCANIC LAKE

DAY 1:  MANAGUA—LEON 

Pick up and greeting at airport by bilingual guide and transfer in private transport to hotel in Leon.
 
DAY 2:  LEON  
Leon is a vibrant city, with Spanish colonial architecture and friendly people.  Breakfast and transfer to Cerro Negro Volcano for a hike to the summit and sledding on custom build sleds for the volcanic sand.  Transfer to the remote crate lake of El Tigre (the tiger) for swimming.  Transfer to Leon.  Dinner and lodging at hotel in Leon. 

DAY 3:  LEON—GRANADA   
Breakfast and transfer to Granada.  Granada is Nicaragua’s oldest and 3rd largest city.  It boasts beautiful, colonial Spanish architecture, wonderful dining and a fun nightlife.  Explore the city in horse drawn carriage.  Lunch and Kayaking or scenic boat trip among the 365 islands of Lake Nicaragua.  Dinner on one of the beautiful islands.  Transfer back to hotel in Granada.

DAY 4: GRANADA—MOMBACHO VOLCANO-APOYO CRATER LAKE  
Breakfast and transfer to Mombacho Volcano for a zipline canopy tour high above the forest of the volcano.  Transfer to Laguna de Apoyo, a 200 meter deep volcanic crater lake with crystal clear wáter.  Lunch, swimming and kayaking at the lake.  Transfer back to hotel in Granada for dinner and optional night out for live music

DAY 5: GRANADA—ISLA OMETEPE  
Breakfast and transfer to San Jorge for ferry ride across Lake Nicaragua to arrive at double volcanic island of Ometepe.  Ometepe includes Maderas  Volcano (1394m) and Concepción Volcano (1610m).  Swimming and lunch at the “Ojo de Agua” (eye of water), crystal clear, sparkling water fed by a natural spring.  Afternoon kayaking around the island.   Dinner and relax along the shores of Lake Nicaragua

DAY 6: OMETEPE ISLAND  
Breakfast and hike up Maderas Volcano and into its cloud forests for opportunities to see howler monkeys and green parrots.  This guided hike takes between 3 to 8 hours depending on your pace.  At the summit, you can hike down the crater to the beautiful and isolated crater lake.  Picnic lunch at the crater lake.  Return to hotel for dinner and lodging.  Optional hikes include a shorter walk to a beautiful cascade, or the even more challenging hike up the steeper slopes of Concepcion Volcano.

​DAY 7: OMETEPE—SAN JUAN DEL SUR                         
Breakfast and return by ferry to San Jorge.  Transfer to San Juan del Sur.  Lunch at restaurant along the perfect horseshoe shaped bay of San Juan del Sur.  Afternoon sailing or surfing.  Dinner and lodging at hotel in San Juan del Sur. 

DAY 8: SAN JUAN DEL SUR—MADERAS BEACH         
Breakfast and transfer to unspoiled Maderas Beach.  Known for its surfing, Maderas Beach offers surf lessons for all levels of surfers.  Optional boat ride to isolated beaches.  Lunch at the beach.  Afternoon transfer back to San Juan de Sur for dinner and lodging.  Evening outing option for live music or dancing.

DAY 9: SAN JUAN DEL SUR-CATARINA VOLCANIC OVERLOOK -MASAYA MARKET AND VOLCANO.
Breakfast and transfer to Catarina.  Catarina, known for its skilled artisans and beautiful, flower nurseries, sits on the edge of the Apoyo Lake crater.  Check out the artisans work, marvel at the flower nurseries and take in the spectacular views of Apoyo Lake.  Transfer to Masaya Market for souvenir shopping for beautiful, handmade crafts.  Lunch at the market.  Transfer to Masaya Volcano for ride up to the summit and amazing views into the steamy crater.  Optional night tour of volcano includes expeditions into bat caves, a short hike to a second and third crater, and views of the glowing, red lava of Santiago Crater.  Transfer to Managua for dinner and lodging in hotel.  
 
DAY 10: MANAGUA—DEPARTURE
Breakfast at hotel and transfer to airport for departure.

Eco Tour includes: 
  All hotel lodging 
  All activities and excursions mentioned in itinerary 
  All breakfasts  
  All transportation in private vehicle 
  24 hour tour guide services and translation 
  Meet and greet at the airport and trip materials
  All taxes for hotels and restaurants.

Eco Tour does not include: 
  International airfare to and from Managua, Nicaragua
  Lunches, dinners or drinks 
  Optional activities not mentioned in trip itinerary
  Discretionary tips
  Taxes at the airport and borders (entrance and exit fees)
  Other personal expenses such a souvenir shopping, snacks

All tours can begin any day of the year.   Tours can also be customized depending on your interests and travel schedule. 
Eco tour costs depend on the number of travelers in your party and travel dates.  Please specify number of people and estimated dates when requesting a quote.
