Women in Action's new Community store/farmer's market and acupuncture and massage clinic
As part of our Peaceful Nature; an endeavor between Women in Action and La Paz farmers to provide sustainable income to families by processing and marketing natural produce from La Paz for sale by WIA members, we have opened a new community store and farmer's market at the WIA center. The store will sell basic grains, coffee, vegetables, fruit, and processed products such as hot sauces, moringa leaf powder and oil, fruit juices and traditional jams and sweets. The store will also include weekend sales of soups and traditional foods for lunch and dinner.
The WIA center will also be the site of a acupuncture and massage clinic. WIA director, Ana Narvaez is a trained massage therapist, and she was recently certified as an acupuncturist after taking part in an intensive acupuncture workshop, She and several other workshop participants will be carrying out acupuncture sessions at the WIA Center which will be free of charge and will focus particularly on relaxation, pain relief, and anti-stress. Ana will also be offering massages at the clinic. The clinic will also include natural medicine products.
We are looking to raise funds in order to purchase a professional massage table [$300] and reclining plastic chairs for acupuncture sessions [$200]. We also hope to construct a kitchen pantry at the WIA Center [$2,500] which will include a large sink, 2 ceramic countertops, wood cabinets, semi-industrial stove, and a refrigerator. The pantry will be used for preparing traditional foods, fruit drinks, hot sauces and soy food and milk.
