Compas Organizes Family Tour in Nicaragua

"The entire time I felt completely safe, secure and at ease! The people of Nicaragua were so welcoming, kind, friendly and eager to engage in conversation and play with my kids! Not only did we get to have the adventure of a lifetime seeing volcanoes, beaches, animals and really immerse ourselves in Nica culture, we also made dear friends,....Honestly I cannot wait to go back!" Melissa Rosen, March 2019 Best of Nicaragua Tour

Interested in having your own adventure of a lifetime?? Contact Compas now ([email protected]) for information on a unique and affordable tour!  Check out the photos and information below about Melissa's tour!
In  March 2019, Melissa Rosen and her two young children spent a week in Nicaragua on a "Best of Nicaragua" tour led by Compas.  The best thing about it was that our Director’s family was also able to join in the fun!  Michael Boudreau, his wife, Yara and their daughters Harolee (3) and Amaya (2 months) were able to spend a wonderful week with Melissa and her amazing children.

Their tour began at the breathtaking Masaya Volcano with spectacular views of the crater.  Then, the group went for a swim at the beautiful Apoyo volcanic lake.  From there, the families went on to visit the colonial city of Granada where they enjoyed a horse buggy and history tour of the city.  They also took a boat tour of the Granada Islands on Lake Nicaragua, which included feeding monkeys and lunch on one of the islands.  The tour then went to the magnificent Ometepe island (a double volcanic island on Lake Nicaragua) where Melissa and her children enjoyed a relaxing swim in the volcanic spring water of the “Eye of Water” and a walk along a sand bar.  The trip ended with a stay at a resort hotel at San Juan del Sur and a private boat ride along the seashore in which they were treated to a group of dolphins and a stop at a private beach for snorkeling!  Take a peak at the slide show sequence of the trip above!

Here is what Melissa said about her trip: “Last week my children (ages 3 and 5) and I visited Nicaragua through a Compas de Nicaragua tour. I had been nervous that it may still be unsafe because of the unrest from 2018, but I asked Michael a ton of questions concerning safety and made the decision to go. I cannot say enough good things about our trip! We traveled to Managua, Ometepe, Granada, San Juan del Sur and La Paz. Then entire time I felt completely safe, secure and at ease! The people of Nicaragua were so welcoming, kind, friendly and eager to engage in conversation and play with my kids! There is a strong sense of community and warmth; everyone smiles and greets each other (coming from New Jersey this was a beautiful surprise!). Not only did we get to have the adventure of a lifetime seeing volcanoes, beaches, animals and really immerse ourselves in Nica culture, we also made dear friends traveling with Michael and his family. Honestly I cannot wait to go back!”
