The purpose of Women in Action is to improve the lives of women and children through education, health, and income generating programs.

In a recent update from Ana Narvaez, who oversees the Women in Action program, as of the March 2010, she reported that malnutrition and a lack of food was becoming a greater issue for the women and their families. In response to this Compas is increasing funding for the Soy Food Program in order to provide nutrient rich food to the women of the co-op and their families more frequently.
Additionally, Ana reported that the micro-lending program is going very well and that all women who have been given loans have repaid them in full.
The first group of women in the secondary education program have completed all of their requirements and are awaiting the official certificates.
Ana has been providing reproductive health workshops to members of WIA and reported that these have been going well. She will continue to provide these workshops and hopes to begin teaching the younger women members as well.
Ana announced that preparation is in full swing for the Fall 2010 dance tour in which Compas will bring members of Women in Action to the US to perform traditional dances and share their stories.
